Proudgeek
Thanks in advance! Are these new acan heads coming out? What is this coming out of my zoas? Link to comment
Pinner Reef
Yes looks like baby acans and that looks to be a sponge in the zoas. (50/50 as to wether it might be an issue) Link to comment
ndrobey
To kill a sponge, just take the frag out of the water and make sure the sponge gets some air in it. No point in keeping a plain-looking sponge where it could cause problems. Link to comment

I was actually concerned with the acan for the last week as it had been losing shape somewhat. Now I know why To kill a sponge, just take the frag out of the water and make sure the sponge gets some air in it. No point in keeping a plain-looking sponge where it could cause problems. Ok. Took it out for a few minutes and used the feeding syringe on it. Will monitor... Thanks to both! Link to comment
CronicReefer
If you cover the sponge in super glue it will die as well because it can no longer filter feed the water. Link to comment

glennr1978
Yep, those are new heads popping out on that rainbow frag. Score! Link to comment
jestep
Definitely new heads on the acan. The sponge air method is more of a myth IMO. I've tried keeping yellow, white, and some blueish sponges in air for 20 or 30 minutes, have tried injecting them, they don't care. It's probably applicable to the larger more complex ball and pipe sponges, but it's never worked for me on the small ones. Link to comment
Proudgeek
I am out for a few days so I'll check as soon as I get back. If it's still there, super glue would be next. Or can I just pull it out? I was also thinking of fragging it and gluing the larger zoa group to a rock. I could get rid of it like that as well. What do you recommend? Thanks again. And I found the name for the rainbow acan... "Dirty panties". Really? Lol Link to comment
