Tank looks sick man. whats up with the vents on the bottom of the overflow?

Thanks! I am not sure. It may to view if water is in the overflow. It is all the way through the acrylic but not the glass behind the acrylic overflow box.

Yeah it is. I thought it was there to suck detritus through the bottom but it is closed off by glass. It doesn't cause any harm to the tank so I'm cool with it. I can't wait to transfer everything over (Phase II).

FYI special characters in the thread title messes with the site's software, might want to change the name before page two ;)

Looks sexy so far, and its just the unboxing!

I know that these characters aren't in the site's list of available characters. The most it will do is force the software to fill the space with a possible character to match but nothing catastrophic will occur and users won't be able to type "ƭɦɛ ʗᴜɓɛ" in search and find this thread. Following will be the only way to know what is going on (besides update feed).

Thanks for the tip though.

No, I meant that once you reach page two you will no longer be able to view or post in the thread, it breaks the site's software. I cannot find the thread made about the issue, but it happened a few months ago. It makes the page give redirect loops.

Oh ok. Thanks for the heads up. I think it may be certain characters though. My old 10G had special characters and it went to 4 pages without issues. I will add it back after page 2 and see what happens.

Really like these tanks great choice! LED or T5- why not just do a combo? Best of both worlds

Thanks! The costs for a retro-fit is too much for me to justify buying it. Both can grow corals. Both has pros and cons.

Very true! What are you livestock plans after you transfer over- more SPS?

Yeah, I remember that BA had ಠ_ಠ for his, but Chris marks didn't specify on which special characters would do it, just that the software just freaks out lol.

I may hold on sps for a while. I want to add more lps and mushrooms. I, also, want some cool inverts to add to the tank; Sea slugs mostly. I want to get a few and study them to see what they eat and spread that knowledge to other reefers so that we can see more of them in home aquariums. I want fish but then I don't. Having fish brings another chore and I risk losing them when I am gone. I like having the piece of mind that there isn't any fish. I've had too many carpet surfers.

If you've already got a 5-pump doser, IMHO I'd just have one of them dose vinegar instead of using biopellets and a dedicated reactor.

You just made me remember something. I have the Red Sea NoPox. I can dose that instead of using biopellets. You just saved me $179.99. Thanks for reminding me, Ben.

On the Kore 5th, I plan to have it setup like this:

Doser 1: Ca

Doser 2: Alk

Doser 3: Red Sea Energy A & B (mixed; a days worth only. I could have more if I find a way to keep it chilled)

Doser 4: Red Sea NoPox

Doser 5: ATO

Anything, I should change or other recommendations? I plan on using the Red Sea Reef Care Program.

You could use some sort of a wine chiller, or if you get a small mini-fridge you can drill a small hole through the side and seal it up with silicone.

If those two are your choices, go with the Sunpower. I love LEDs and almost always recommend them, but the honest truth is that an XR15 is too small for a 24x24 footprint. Even a XR30 is only OK for that coverage. You'll end up with high par right underneath the array, much lower par off center, and a lot of shading on SPS branches. For the price, I'd much rather go with a pair of reef breeders value fixtures than an XR15 due to coverage and honestly pretty equal spectral quality. Alternatively, DIY is always fun and it would be pretty easy to DIY a 4-nanobox puck+ 2 T5 array for a similar price to the Sunpower+ bulbs.
