Test of how hardy Mushroom Corals really are.

It's day 10 of the nitrogen cycle of my 63 gallon tank. Everything's going smoothly and my readings are:

Ammonia- <0.25ppm

Nitrite- 5ppm

Nitrate- 80ppm

pH- 8.0

Salinity- 1.024

Temp- 78.5 to 79.5

So here's the thing, I was looking at my tank this morning and noticed a 1/2" orange Mushroom Coral polyp on my live rock. I took out the rock and chipped a small piece off where the mushroom sits. It's placed on the same level where it used to sit, but at the front of the tank where I can closely inspect it. I've kept these corals before and I know how tough they can be. I'm just wondering if it can survive in a high nitrite and nitrate environment for a short period of time. Has anyone else found coral on their live rock during a cycle?

When i first setup my biocube i had some palys. They all recolored and grew and are still growing. They are my first corals and are some hard little guys so they hold a special place in my heart.

Did they go through a full nitrogen cycle and manage to survive? Some bad ass little polyps..
