So very sad. Bicolor Blenny jumped

I've had him for a couple months and we really got attached to him. We loved to watch his goofy antics and comical face. My daughter would run down after school to check on him. "How's Benny?" He was in a 5g pico without a lid. My fault. I've been setting up a 32g rimless to transfer him and his little oscellaris buddy, but it's not finished yet.

Does somebody make custom screen sizes for rimless tanks? Alternately, I'll probably build a tall plexiglass hood so I don't have the glare from the LEDs in my eyes. Maybe the extra height on that would keep fish from jumping?

RIP Benny the Blenny

Yeah, shoulda had a screen. Although, that is no guarantee. Fish can find the smallest slit to get through. Some even work through a top--no gap needed.

I wonder if anyone has caught a fish working it's way out of a tank on video? I had an oscar once who got stuck halfway out of a screen top. Heard a weird thumping sound then went and found him squeezed between the top and tank edge.

He was only about 3.5" at the time! Tough bugger that fish was. He shot into and ripped right through a net during a move to a bigger tank once, flipped over my shoulder, and slid under the couch! Got all dusty and covered in dust bunnies. Actually flopped away from me as I tried to grab it from under the couch.

Found him dried out and dead one day. He had wedged himself between the center brace of the tank and the screen top. I had the screen top bungeed down to prevent his escape. He managed to jump up onto the center brace and got wedged under the screen. Lights cooked him. :(

He definately had a resentment...
