It has a built in programmable controller that I never had set to run above 65% at the peak time throughout the day. I purchased the light in March 2014 so it is around 8 Months old. I had it over an open top biocube 29 before I upgraded to my current tank. It's super slim but I don't know if it can be mounted inside the actual hood. Link to comment

That said mine is exact same light and grows softies lps and sps and a happy gbta Come on yall buy this super deal on a great light not super flashy on features but colors corals well and grows em. It gave me enough spread for Zoas to grow well all the way at the bottom edges. My avatar picture shows the tank a couple months ago with the light running. Link to comment
