Painting Tank Trim (Oak to Black)

Thinking about purchasing a setup from another hobbyist, but the tank does not match the stand.. The tank is oak and the stand in black..

 

Anyone paint a tank trim before? What did you use? How did it come out?

Any paint should work. Just make sure to prep the surface properly first. Rough it up a little with some 80 grit sand paper, wipe down with alcohol, prime, then paint. If you take your time, it should look good and last a long time.

sand paper to rough it up and any acrylic? paint should work. acrylic holds up better to the water. Atleast that's what I've always been told. Maybe someone else can verify

The type of paint isn't all that critical. If you feel nervous about it, get an exterior paint. What's more critical is making sure the paint sticks to the surface it's intended to stick to, which is where surface prep comes in.
