12g LED fixture

I'm starting to research LED fixtures for my 12g jbj nano cube. I originally thought I would put a retrofit into the hood but now I'm thinking of removing the hood and using an LED fixture. I was just wondering if anyone with some knowledge of LEDs could chime in and give me some advise? Any recommendation?

I was just looking at the kessel actually. You have to buy the gooseneck separately on that one right?

I was kinda hoping there was something like this out there..

In a smaller size, the nano cube 12g is only 12.8" wide

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, check out reefradiance nano60 and reefbreeders nano-lite. I personally had the reef radiance nano 60 on my jbj 12 and it worked great. The fixture was about 8" off the water and I had whites/colors set to 20% and blue at about 45% and saw great results. I know reefradiance was running a special for black friday on the nano 60 so you can probably get a good deal.

I wouldn't even waste your time with the Marineland fixture. If you're going to spend that much on leds,get one of the ones posted above. Or spend the few extra dollars and get a NanoBox from Dave.

I appreciate you guys taking a sec to help out.. Bananas, those are the best options I've seen, thanks a lot… I just need to decide between one of those or spending the extra couple bucks to get a nano box retro… I've already talked to Dave briefly about it… I'm not sure if I want to take the top off or not…. decisions….. All I know is I can't stand the look of these stock CF much longer..

You could also look into StevesLEDs or Rapids Retro's especially if you are debating going topless or not.

I'm very happy with a par 38 over my 12gal

 

I'm using this desk lamp and it has no problem with a heavy par38. The beauty of using a par38 is the huge selection of bulbs to try, I'm using a cheap $25bulb but you can get lots of led combos at lots of different price points
