Switching from IO to hw-Marinemix Reefer Synthetic Salt

Hi All,

Since I set up my tank this summer, I have been using Instant Ocean salt. It has been just okay, but I have never liked how "dirty" it mixes up. I have 3 sps frags (2 acros and a monti digi), some zoanthids, a hammer, and a mini carpet anemone. This is in my 16 gallon IM Nuvo. So the demands aren't very high, but I don't think that anything in there was doing spectacularly, although nothing was in any danger of dying. I have a NanoBox Duo, an auto-topoff, a skimmer, and the mini reactor from IM, and I do 30% weekly water changes. So, with good husbandry, I was not thrilled with my tank progress over the months. That made me decide to change salt mixes to see what would happen. For some reason, hw-Marinemix Reefer salt caught my attention, so that is what I decided to move to. I know I should ease into a change, but I decided to try using *only* the new salt for my water change this weekend. I wasn't sure what to expect... Maybe everything would be kind of irritated, or worse. Surprisingly, within a half hour, everything looked better than ever. I wouldn't recommend that anyone make such a big, abrupt change, but somehow it seems like it worked for me. I was also surprised at how much cleaner this stuff mixed up. I'll monitor things over the next few days or the next week and let everyone know how it's going. Feel free to tell me how irresponsible it was for me to do this! :)

Same for me when i switched from io to red sea coral pro. Everything looked much much happier even right after fill up. Amazing when you use quality salt mixes what happens.
