Empty hermit shells

Just a general question, where do you get empty hermit shells for your hermits to grow into? I know you cane get them at Reef cleaners and other online depots, but I don't want to go online for just shells, and my lfs doesn't have them. Any suggestions?

Talk to the LFS. I'd be surprised if they didn't have any shells from some dead snails. Is there another LFS or Petco nearby?

Without suitable shells, the crab will probably try and kill a snail for its shell. While I recommend empty shells, you could simply buy a couple suitably sized snails for it to kill.

Online sources shouldn't cost that much, as you don't have to ship shells overnight.

Go to hobby lobby or a craft store. You can find them there.

I'll try that out, thanks!

If I don't have any luck at a hobby store I will probably just get them online. I don't think I could put snails in for the sole purpose of letting them be killed.

+1 to hobby store. Hobby lobby had a large bag of assorted shells. I picked out varying sizes, looking for larger openings hermits would be happy with. Rinsed well and scattered them.
