My xenia has been in my tank for about a week now and still doesn't pulse at all! It is not completely shut and has very little current to it. All of my other corals are open and happy and my lighting is very good. Please help.

Did you buy pulsing Xenia? Bc not all types pulse.

Also, why did you start two threads on this?

Yes i was told by an employee that it is the pulsing type. I know this because I see one or two polyps barely pulsing (hardly at all). I started two threads so I could get more and different answers/ opinions in each section.

If there is too much flow, some of the pulsing ones won't pulse. Try turning down your flow and see if anything changes. As RK_tek mentioned as well, some just don't pulse.

i agree with the canandienne. High flow is the biggest cause of this. High light will also cause them to cut it out. Check your salinity as well. From my experience, xenia is pretty sensitive to higher levels of salt that would normally not bother most corals

Mine love higher light, in fact they climb towards it. Flow is not an issue in my experience as they've place themselves in front of my power head. I keep my salinity around 1.025-1.026 spec gravity. There are articles you can look up regarding oxygen content that plays a role in their pulsing. Higher O2 and lower CO2 reduces pulsing while lower O2 and higher CO2 raised pulsing.

When I moved tanks I took my xenia out of the water and it didn't pulse for a few days. Then it started and wilting and I was just about to write it off.

Luckily decided to leave it be, and 2 weeks laters its back. And pulsing.

So maybr just give it some time. And maybe if you exposed it to air it didnt like it haha.
