Fluffeh
So for the past few years I've had a biocube29, and I finally feel that I need something new. Therefore...I am considering getting an AIO shallow tank. I need some recommendations in terms of dimensions/size of the tank and what kind of LED lighting to get. Any info would be appreciated! thanks. Link to comment
brad908
24x24x12 is a perfect size. Nanobox quad or duo should be good. But ATI t5 with nanobox led's would be killer Link to comment
jabeuy
How big of a tank are you thinking? There are those Deep Blue cube frag tanks. And fir AIO there are the nuvo shallow ones. I like my dimensions on the longer side. Mine is 36"x18"x13" (with the 18" depth including the AIO portion). Depending on the gallonage you want, since its shallow you can really make it appear like a huge tank lengthwise, while keeping the gallons low. Link to comment
Fluffeh
I am looking for a tank with similar gallons as I have now with my biocube 29. I did a brief seach for the NUVO shallow tanks, and they seem quite expensive (I was not looking to spend thousands of dollars for this next tank). Any more suggestions on lighting? I was hoping to not spend a fortune on this, but the two major lights that stand out to me right now is the AI nano or the ecotech Radion XR15w. The AI Nano seems to be right in my pricepoint, but is it any good? Also - with shallow tanks and the amount of space open on the top of the tank, is evaporation a major issue? I was hoping to get by simply by manually adding top off water. Any additional info would be great! Link to comment
plainrt
I'd say look at the deep blue series reef ready tanks and go with a sump.if new to sumps it's really not that hard to do. Link to comment

I would recommend an ATO Lighting: On a shallow tank, I think any of the "known" brands and models would be plenty strong enough. The controllability and coverage will matter more. Coverage especially in larger footprint tanks. Link to comment
frags
I have the JBJ 20 and I really like it and I'm lightin it with the rapid led aurora puck. Link to comment
Fluffeh
the jbj 20 is definitely along the lines of what I am looking for.... In terms of lighting - I'm on the fence about the AI Nano VS the RadionXR15. Link to comment
