Mvmarcelo
I bought a used Redsea Max 130D it came with live sand. I got it about 2 weeks ago and started cycling it I went to the store and bought distiled water and mixed the salt. Then a week later I bought live 10 pound s of love rock and 25 of dry to put in the tank. I was measuring the levels everyday and did notice any changes so I added a shrimp now i after 4 days of being in there the amonia went up to .25 ppm and nitrite and nitrate are still at zero.but I got a small bloom of pink/purple algea and green aswell. I also notice that there are bubbles coming out of the sand and rock. So if anyone could help me and tell me what I need to do differently or not I would very much aperiviate it. Thanks you I'm a really big noob to salt water. Link to comment
Daveluce
Just give it time to cycle. It will take quite a while! Link to comment
Pinner Reef
Ya looks like it may be a pretty long cycle... maybe a couple three weeks. You haven't done anything wrong... unless the shrimp was alive Link to comment
Mvmarcelo
No I bought a a raw shrimp. But it seems that things just kicked on I took my measurements and amonia was at .25ppm nitrite was the same and nitrate was the 15ppm and my love rock algea spreading pretty well. Link to comment
