StevieT
any idea if this pump can be mounted upside down? " I don't know definitively, I haven't tried it and I don't know that anyone has. I assume it could work, the 6020 will not but DC motors cannot start backwards so that should eliminate the prop flying out or chattering. He would just have to try it, for sure sideways will work. He does need to keep in mind that the flow comes out at kind of a 45 degree angle, it needs a lot of height to really reach across the tank and not look like it is just shooting straight down or straight up, so if he goes upside down, it will need to be mounted high so it has at least a ft better 18" or more to develop some reach and not just be blowing straight down." grafxalien
interesting. Tank is pretty small ~10gal DIY fluval edge style. The upper lip that goes into the lid is where I was thinking about mounting it upside down. I think it would fit there and pretty much be invisible. Also- can the pump be unplugged from the controller? Not sure I can fit that box through the hole in my stand. Link to comment

Eisernes
Couple of questions about this pump because I'm not sure I understand the flow pattern. If I put it in a 18x18 tank behind a rock will it circulate water all the way around the tank? If so, will it be a narrow stream or will it widen out? I guess what I'm asking is is this a poor mans gyre generator? Link to comment

This means you great water flow in a smaller package that you can hide. Link to comment
