Brightwell Aquatics Marine Snow...NO GOOD

Okay...Well I have recently target fed my monti`s and one of stylos with Brightwell`s Marine Snow....The section that received the most "juice" I guess have closed polyps and have not opened for about a day in a half...I was just curious if anybody else has had a similar effect? The "Maine Snow" is now in the garbage...and will never be used again...

I would appreciate some feedback.

Did you broadcast feed or target feed with this product?

This product is meant to be a broadcast feed I think, it is how I used and how I have seen people use it. Maybe it is because you were target feeding them with it? I have had no negative effect so far.

Yeah, don't target feed with that - if you want to target feed your SPS you need to buy appropriate sized foods, broadcast a tiny amount to entice a feeding response, and then you can turn off the pumps and target feed. SPS don't respond as quickly to feeding as LPS do. For montis and stylos, you want particles between 10 and 200 microns - Oyster Eggs, Rotifers, encapsulated micro-foods, etc - never buy food for target feeding SPS unless it lists the exact size of the particles.

That's interesting... I broadcast feed my tank twice a day with marine snow to no ill effect.

Yeah!! I`ve broadcasted before with no repercussions. But I decided to target feed this time.

I`m guessing thats the case..It would make the most sense.

On the bottle it actually recommends target feeding but thats very interesting stuff

I was thinking that maybe my "snow" was expired or something...

Its just ridiculous that it has been pretty much two days to this point and I have no PE in the areas that received the heaviest target feed...

They`re not losing color or anything of that matter. The sections that I guess aren`t overwhelmed are as full as they have ever been!

I listed the ingredients for a reason. If you blow this directly, full strength on a coral, your going to shock it and possibly chemical burn it. My guess is it will recover in time. I don't think the product was bad.

Ohhhhhh. Well that makes sense! That sounds like it could be right! I really appreciate the input.

Your welcome, hope the corals are doing better.

My stylo actually opened up 100% today and the monti is slowly making its way back. :):):):) Again though, I really appreciate the feedback. I would have never of thought of a chemical overload as the culprit.
