jgaepi
From a strictly marketing standpoint, I would recommend start taking pre orders for the 35w. With Black Friday on the horizon, if someone can pick up a powerhead on sale during the BF frenzy, why wait for the mythical 35w Gyre. Just saying. Link to comment

CoralVue Aquarium Products
I'm on the fence with doing another pre-registration for the 35W Gyre. It was really difficult trying to make everyone happy and took a lot of grief from hobbyists and our resellers. Chris Link to comment

Chris I can tell you from my standpoint, obviously everyone has different reasons, but I have been waiting for a second powerhead. I anticipate another vortech black Friday deal. I wouldnt want to lose out on a what if about the gyre release. So I will pull the trigger nlt black friday. If I see a gyre 35 pre sale before then, I won't hesitate to buy. Link to comment

Chris Well, people will literally bitch about anything, but in the end, the people that were wanting it are going to buy it. It was kinda funny to see all the back and forth across the forums over the past few weeks. Link to comment

I want to get this second tank up in the next few weeks so I don't want to take any chances. Link to comment

I actually wasn't meaning you, some of the back and forth on threads on RC and R2R are what I was talking about. And I've been waiting very impatiently for the 35w, too. Chris can attest that I've asked him probably 10 times when it's coming Link to comment
NorthGaHillbilly
I'm really excited to see it come out, I think it would work great in my tank. I do think a pretty order would give a big push of sales at first, but I expect in the long run it runs a risk of causing more harm than good. As long as it's as good as it seems then a messy presale just pushes demand farther then it already will be, prob tough to fill orders even without a presale. Link to comment

So even if people r excited about a product, if there r other comparable products at 20% off for one day only people will buy anyway. Link to comment

The gyre will be avaliable for several years, its worth having a smooth entrance into a market Link to comment

PS, everything has said that the 35w has been on track for December. I don't have the answer to your upgrade question yet, hopefully right after the new year. It's already December and I don't have a production sample yet of the 35W Gyre. Mid to late January is my best guess right now. Link to comment
