I had originaly bought one of these for a cosmic ray detector I wanted to build, but was thinking this would make a good phytoplankton reactor with a light mounted inside the ice chamber.

Phyto reactor would be good. Seems to be pretty well made for the job at first glance. You could use it as a kalk dispenser too, or something similar.
