Jake.g Posted November 1, 2014 Share Posted November 1, 2014 so my tank has been running for about a year now and i have the alk issue where i cant seem to raise it past 7.8-8.1 dkh my total system is around 280 liters, i dose cal mag and alk daily to keep the system stable and that is working but i wanna get my alk up to boost my sps frag growth. anyways i added 20 liters of red sea pro salt to the system and when i added to the system that water read 11.2 with a red sea test kit...when i added it to the system nothing the alk changed maybe .3 dkh any suggestion as to why this is happening and how i can correct it. cheers Link to comment

CronicReefer Posted November 1, 2014 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Just increase your daily alk dosage and raise your kh to the desired level and then just maintain the new level. I don't suggest increasing your alk by more than 1 point per day on the kh scale. Just pay attention to calc as well because you may need to increase the dose with a higher alk level. Link to comment
