Light suggestions?

Alright I'm new here, just started into reefing. Been researching on site months and finally ordered a tank and a stand. The tank is 24" x 12" x 7" (approx 8.9 gallons) and I am having a hell of a time choosing a lighting system for this tank.

Theres a lot of options out there the more I look into it the harder it is to choose. Im looking for a system i can control for under $400. I have taken notice into buildmyled's lights and they look promising but so does a Kessil a150w. Since I'm just starting im only going to stick with lps and soft corals until I learn more. Any help and suggestions would be hugely appreciated! Once I get half the stuff I need I'll make a proper introduction and start a build thread. Thanks!

I just bought a BML 30" for my new tank. Not sure when you say control if you mean programmable, or just dimmable. BML is coming out with one that has multiple channel adjustment, but I don't think it is available yet (only beta testing) . Also, to my knowledge, they are dimmable but not programmable without an apex at this point. Neither is the kessil 150 without a separate controller. The kessil 150 would have to be hung pretty high I would think to get the 24" coverage, but they do look really nice. It also depends on what type of coral you want to keep. The razor 120w is about $419 and is controllable/programmable. A tad out of your price range but has all the bells and whistles you are looking for and will be able to grow anything you want. Also a lot of people here are hot on nanobox, they are great looking lights. You would probably have to go with the duo to cover the 24", and I think they are a little more $ if you want the controller as well. HTH (Hope That Helps).

The A150 won't cover the 24" length of your tank. You can look into getting a NanoBox Tide with storm controller, which runs a little over $300 however it'll only cover 18". You might have to get the Duo model, but I'm not sure how much they cost. It might end up a little over your budget, but they are one of the best lights you can get for your nano and they look great too.

I would do the new AI Prime as 2 of them would be $400. Its coming out in 3 weeks and you can link them wirelessly. They are basically a single puck Hydra 52.
