I am in the process of upgrading my 25 to a 40 breeder and I would love to add a bubble tip. I currently have a clown who I got about a year and a half ago. Is there any chance that after not having an anemone for that long he will find/host a new bubble tip? I have always loved the look of clowns hosting anemones but I didn't dare try and put one in a 25 mixed reef tank for fear it would get too large and take over! I am not as worried about that with the 40. Any thoughts would be great!! Thanks! Link to comment

Your clown may take to it right away but I've heard clowns hosting anemones months after being introduced to one. I have heard of ways to "train" the clown to host the anemone but I believe that it should not be done due to the stress it will put on the fish. Link to comment
GTi Posted October 30, 2014 Share Posted October 30, 2014 You can put a photo of a Clown in an anemone facing in to the tank - that can work. When I transferred to my new tank, I acclimated the Clowns and the anemone in the same container; it was large enough that the fish could avoid the anemone if they wished but once the male 'discovered' it he wouldn't leave it. The female was in it shortly afterwards. Link to comment

michaelrzachmann Posted October 31, 2014 Share Posted October 31, 2014 The method of putting the clowns in a strainer like container with anemone when you get the anemone seems to work everytime from what i have seen. I didnt discover that method until my anemone had already found its happy spot in tank. I tried methods like posting the picture because i didnt want to disturb the anemone and shining a flashlight on the anemone at night but nothing really happened. A couple months later one night the clowns started sleeping in the anemone and bingo they were hosting it Link to comment
