TheCurriculum
Back again. My last 2 tanks I don't think I even posted on. sold one off with everything included and last tank nuked while out of town for the weekend. 10g tank (cheap'o from LFS) generic heater 2 wave point lights. 1 small 1 medium length 2 hydor pumps on hydor wave maker Autotop off octopus hob 90 stock Assorted cleanup crew couple brains rock anenome Bright green star mat handfull various zoa star fish picture is a little old and doesn't have all live stock in it. the pic does show the jist of tank, lights, ATO, hob skimmer Tank has been up for a number of months and is through cycling. just a little algea left on one rock. The octopus 90 is already taking care of that. skimmer is now 1 week on the tank works great once I figured out the quirks. wavepoints Cheap and the brains love them. Had great growth out of 2 brains at bottom of 10g under these lights. (I also feed shrimp and other goodies to them). green star is growing great and is now basically a mat. I have just started introducing a handful of zoa frags. so far after a couple days the zoa's look good and aren't over extending. Will eventually get a higher end cree led setup (one I built nuked when the pump sprayed all the elctronics. Sold the leftover as I will just make a new one with the latest greatest leds some time next year) hydor been using there stuff for years and years. wave maker is a new addition but already a big fan. I have the pumps on a 15 second flip. The anomone and brains really seem to like this and it generates a nice shimmer. Octo HOB 90 (I like it, just feaking huge behind the 10g) Quirk 1. It's huge and does not HOB as the pump sits on the table top. It now is on a 1/2 board under the pump to make it easier for me to adjust the intake \ outake cups. see quirk 2 Quirk 2. Odd cavitation kept happening. Wasn't generating a bubble storm, just pulsing. Turn it off, drain it, refill, start like normal all good. I took the pump off and everthing was fine the 2nd time it happened. Finally caught the issue, when my tank lost a little water to evaporation and right before the ATO kicked off the skimmer cup pulled the water in to the point it was pulling air also. adjusted intake \ outake it's all good now.
