intr3p1d
So today my Koralia nano came in. As my tank is only 6.25 gallons, I felt that was all i needed in addition to the 40 gph powerhead in the overflow portion of the tank. HOWEVER: Since hooking it up I feel like not as high a percentage of particles are actually going through the filter; just getting sucked back over to the powerhead and blown back across the tank. The tank is pretty shallow, like 11 inches deep max. I also feel like the area immediately behind the pump is a huge dead spot because of the awkward placement of the overflow. Any ideas on where I could place this pump to eliminate these problems would be great, pics below. Link to comment
seabass
I suggest tying a piece of string to the end of a fish net handle and moving it around the tank to view the flow patterns and intensity (just don't get the string caught in the powerhead). Move the pump up and down, as well as right and left (while changing the direction it's pointing) and continue to check the flow patterns. You might wish to adjust the rock placement to further adjust the flows (based on the trial and error method that I described). Link to comment
