Thank you! I have a 6-year old Canon Rebel Xs DLSR with a kit lens that I never learned how to use. I'm amazed at how the images turned out, especially since I didn't use a tripod. I'll probably set one up so that I can get a better read on the focus and hook it up to my laptop for better image previews. Unfortunately, this discovery has me looking at macro lenses.

Any recommendations on macro lenses that won't break the bank would be appreciated!

Nice job! Welcome to the macro photography bug :D

I'm a Nikon guy so that's where I've focused my research. You might head over to Jedimasterben's thread, though. He's got some beautiful shots taken with the nifty fifty and a reversing ring. I've played with magnifying lenses and extension tubes but nothing's better than a good macro lens. I'm starting to look around at older, used manual focus lenses to try to get something decent without spending my monthly mortgage m=payment on a new one.

Just a quick update:

This rock scape has been three months in the making and all of the original rock is gone. Wopee! I think it looks a lot lighter. I've also added a few corals...

One of these days I'll sit down and figure out how to use this camera...

So Chris built you some sort of hanging system for your light custom?

Just saw this! Yes, it mounts directly to the stand.

So, on Friday I purchased a skunk cleaner shrimp from a local LFS. Drip-acclimated it for 2-hours and put it in the tank. It navigated back to the lower return grill and hung out there all day. Did its little 'come get cleaned' dance and everything. Saturday morning it was still chilling back there but by around noon it wasn't moving. I assumed it was dead, though my hermit came up to take a look and then left it along. It definitely didn't looking like a molt because it was still very solid. I left my house at 3 and when I returned at 6 it had completely vanished. My tank--as you can see--doesn't have a ton of hiding places and I've checked all of them.

Nothing.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that, if it were dead, my CUC could have completely removed all evidence of a 3"L shrimp in the course of three hours.

Any ideas?

Maybe it found a hole and died in there?

My scape hasn't changed from my last FTS and that shrimp was almost 3" long. There just isn't anywhere for it to go.

I'm clearly horrible at this. My tank hit the one year make a few days ago and I totally forgot! Here are some photo updates!

In other news, does anyone know of a non-annoying way to imbed Flickr photos?

how do you only have half a gyre lol?

Maxspect sells a cap that lets you cover up one side if you only need one set of blades. The full size Gyre was just too much for my tank.

Looking good. Glad to see another Pico out there.

Thanks, I'm still here! I wish Chris would get that website up and running.
