Difference between EVS 1% Potassium Iodide and KZ PIF

Hello All,

 

I'm considering starting some iodine dosing. Obviously, testing is required, but I'm wondering what the difference is between 1% Potassium Iodide and KZ PIF?

 

EVS says 1 drop/week in 20 gallons. KZ says 1 drop/day in 25 gallons. Is KZ really that much weaker or is something amiss here? I know there is a flouride addition to PIF, but I don't see that being a major issue.

I imagine that they both contain 1% potassium iodide. In this guide (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Media/PDF/82122-ZEOvitFilterMedia.pdf), they recommend 1 drop per 100 liters (26.4 gallons) twice weekly. It seems to me that it would be near impossible to develop a generic dosing recommendation for iodine, as there would be numerous factors to consider (like other inputs, how fast it is depleted, consumption rates, and the efficiency of the protein skimmer).

I would consider the recommendations max limits, and would dose smaller amounts while monitoring the level via observation and testing.
