akma
So My male stopped eating for a few weeks. I was nervous I was going to lose him:When I got home from work I saw little fry in his mouth:http://s299.photobucket.com/user/krnreefer/media/bbangaiieggs_zps762944ce.jpg.html'>Few hours go by and I saw babies shoot up to the top. Was able to save 2 so far and put them in my refugium/sump. Any hints and tips? Everywhere I read says they need brine. My sump/refugium is loaded with copepods, amphipods, tigger pods. Here are the 2 that I was able to save. I see some more in the dad's mouth but he's not spitting them out yet:http://s299.photobucket.com/user/krnreefer/media/bangaii2_zps171c7aad.jpg.html'>http://s299.photobucket.com/user/krnreefer/media/banggai1_zpsf7b033bc.jpg.html'> Posted this on a few forums to try to get some hints and tips. basser1
I had a breeding pair of Bangaii a few years ago and tried my hand at rearing the fry. I soon realized I wasn't prepared for the extra work. Since I didn't have live BBS, I used frozen BBS along with some cyclopeeze. I managed to raise 5 and then I took the pair to my LFS and traded them for store credit. Here's a thread and my pics are on post #50. I made a fake urchin by using a ball of epoxy with steak skewers. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/287837-altos-bangaii-cardinal-breeding-thread/ They are a stunning fish. BTW, keep the male away from the female for a couple of weeks or she will wear him out. Link to comment
akma
Thanks guys. I can only find 1 in my sump/refugium. Not sure where the other one is. The male is eating like a pig today. I think all the others are dead. I saw some little pieces of skin floating around when I got home. Good news is the one baby I saw going after cyclopeeze. I think love is in the air. My wyoming white pair clownfish and my snowflake pair are cleaning nonstop and both pairs have gotten HUGE in the past few weeks. Hopefully, they start spawning soon. Link to comment
k4ndyk1ng
One on my LFS bred these and they just chilled in an anemone between the tentacles and grew up without special care Link to comment
