Thomas898
Hey all, I've had this in my tank since it was established, approx. 3 months. Worried it's aptasia. Came as a hitchhiker on live rock. This is a picture of it the most open I have seen, and I haven't noticed any of these popping up around my tank anywhere else. Also, it is attached to a skeleton, same as my hammer and frogspawn. I had broken it off from the live rock it was attached to when I first noticed it in case I should get it out ASAP? If not aiptasia, does anyone know what this is!? Thanks (Apologies in advance for crappy picture) Link to comment
Paandemonium
Does it extend further than that? Aiptasia doesnt have a skeleton as it is an anemone. I would think its a browned out duncan or something Link to comment
markalot
Try feeding it directly. It may be non photo synthetic. If it has a feeding response to some small food (crushed up pellets, flake, whatever you have) then at least you should be able to nurse it back to health. Link to comment
clownfitch
It looks like you have yourself a baby hammer coral. Link to comment
Thomas898
This is a couple days after new placement in tank, put it around same level as existing hammer coral. Has started to get some blue colouring back on the flesh and this is a bit more inflated after feeding, so hopefully this assists with an ID! Link to comment
Islandoftiki
Euphyllia of some sort. Absolutely not a pest coral. Link to comment
opaquelace
Looks like it could possibly be a plate coral? Sometimes they are attached to stems as babies. Link to comment
Angel<3Nanos
I have some blastos that have a skeleton base. Could be. Idk. Link to comment

Thomas898
Update on the mystery coral. Was growing really well and regaining colour on most parts.. Then.. Tux urchin knocked it into the sand and caused half of the tissue to die. But here it is recovered about a month later. Starting to look like a plate to me. Any one else? Link to comment
phases
Looks to be a nice little Fungia repanda. Link to comment
