OfficeTank
I've been running a SCA 301 for roughly a month in about 7.5" of water 30g display 10g sump. I'm lightly stocked and I'm not stingy with the feeding. I'm still getting TONS of micro bubbles coming out the exhaust tube. It sounds like a soda fizzing and I'm getting salt creep everywhere because of it. I've managed to mod the sump to keep most of them out of the display but the sound + salt is starting to get annoying, it looks like frost covering everything. Is there anything I can do to reduce the bubbles or can anyone recommend an alternate skimmer? Thanks! Link to comment
joeyhatch11
That's normal I too have mine in 7.5in of water and I have the same bubbles. Been this way for 2 years. Sometimes it'll calm down a bit but never stops. Link to comment
nanoreefer11
I never had any issues with mine, although I think 7.5 inches is a bit shallow, I remember running mine at 10'' but its been a while. It was for sure more than 7''. Link to comment
patback
I think mine is at 10". Still get micro bubbles. Sometimes it's barely noticeable, other times I think I'd be screwed if I didn't have baffles. Link to comment
OfficeTank
Thanks for the quick responses! Joey is the skimmer working well for you after all this time? Link to comment
atrox
Run a 90 pvc fitting and an extension on output to run back up out of water. Link to comment
OfficeTank
Run a 90 pvc fitting and an extension on output to run back up out of water. so i should route the exhaust up above the waterline to eliminate the bubbles? Link to comment
atrox
That's what I did. Works great Link to comment
xiaoxiy
That's brilliant! I've been getting some serious microbubbles out of my SCA301 too. I'd be screwed if not for my bubble trap. Link to comment
atrox
That way the bubbles will pop as they are exposed to the air. It will cut em down considerably. If you still have some, shove some filter floss in there Link to comment

If you still have some, shove some filter floss in there any chance you can post a picture? In my head I see a 'U' shape coming off the bottom of the blue exhaust pipe opening at the waterline. Want to make sure I don't jack it up Link to comment
