nanofish1
I got this shipment from saltwaterfish.com today. I noticed that the yellow watchman goby had what seems like white flake on his mouth. It looks like his skin in the mouth is really white/ torn and seem like some kind of disease to me. I have the picture attached, but it is not the best quality. Also, while the other fish are all doing well, this goby seems to just float along with the current and keeps on getting stuck to the filter. I don't think it will make it. Is this marine ick? or what could it be? (I do not have quaratine tank) On the other hand, since it is my first time with the reef tank, I wanted to ask if the frog spawn looks healthy from the picture. thank you Link to comment
CronicReefer
It may be possible to treat the goby with melafix but if he is not eating that could be why he is so weak. I would definitely call and find out why they sent you a fish with an obvious disease. Link to comment
nanofish1
It died about 1 hour after posting. I sent them an email, hopefully they wont say that they will just give store credit when it was obviously a diseased goby. Thanks for the reply though! Do you think that was ick? Link to comment
clownfitch
Just based off of the picture it doesn't look like ick. Did it have raised white spots all over it and labored breathing? The frogspawn looks great btw. Link to comment
nanofish1
It did not have raised spots at all. It was only white (sloughing skin) in the mouth area. It also seemed like it had labored breathing as well. But it was acting really weird before it died. it kept on banging its head on the rocks. going crazy i guess lol Link to comment
