jonnydelane
ahoy hoy! after a long break from the hobby I've decided to jump back in with a small pico build TANK: 2.6G 8x8x10 custom picoaquariums naked tank with a black background. LIGHT: par30 until the aquaillumination prime comes out. FILTRATION: 3 pounds dry rock, i might go bare bottom to keep nutrients low but I'm not sure yet, ill be running chemi-pure blue in a small 80gph catalina 333f internal filter and be doing 100% water changes. HEATER: aquatop 25w nano heater. no plans for live stock yet, definitely loving the frags over at legendary corals though! thats all for now ill update as things progress Link to comment
jonnydelane
got the filter and heater in the mail today, I'm pretty sure its the same filter that comes with the ecopico. I'm pretty impressed with the build quality on the heater too. checking out the lfs, the red flower pot in the middle is looking pretty sweet Link to comment
jonnydelane
pre ordered the ai prime and the tank is curing, i also picked up some chemi pure blue and grabbed one of those little vertex cleaning mags. i ordered one of these too, i can't find any reviews on it but I've had good luck with ssa in the past Link to comment
Hexadron
Looking forward to this one Link to comment
jonnydelane
more stuff in the mail today, refractometer and the ato, the mounting bracket for the float switch turned out to be HUGE so i decided to bust out the dremel and see if i could make it more pico friendly much better I'm thinking, i used a suction cup from an old tetra heater. KissMyDSM
Smaller footprint but what if the suction cup fails? Link to comment
jonnydelane
ill probably have the warden bring home some plastic clips from walmart since thats where she works. magnets also sound appealing but idk what effect they would have that close to the switch. Link to comment
jonnydelane
asked for a pic of the tank, this thing is looking pretty sweet Link to comment

So how does that work you're going to have 1 inch of evaporation before the float switch kicks in. Link to comment
jonnydelane
So how does that work you're going to have 1 inch of evaporation before the float switch kicks in. it was just a mock up, you can slide the snail guard up and down in the suction cup to adjust that, I'm gonna make a more permanent solution out of acrylic once the tank gets here though. Reefkid88
Tank looks good, how long before you get it,and how much was the price,I kinda like the footprint for a taller nano sps tank ? Yeah,I'm with Lawn on this,I think that's a lot of evap before the ATO kicks on.. Link to comment

Yeah,I'm with Lawn on this,I think that's a lot of evap before the ATO kicks on.. i think i read he cures the tanks 10 to 14 days (don't quote me on that) so it should be around a little over a week. i payed $82 total. ill definitely be putting some birdsnest and monti in there. as for the ato heres kinda what I'm thinking as far as the mount, again ill cement it together at the right level once i get the tank. Reefkid88
That's not bad at all. A nice tall rock work, with a AC50 would be perfect for some sps. Link to comment
mich1402
Nice build. Our tank dimensions are almost the same. Link to comment
jonnydelane
so the tank came and the quality is amazing, also figured out the ato situation, so I'm just waiting on the prime and some sand. the cords and power strip are hidden in the box in the bottom shelf, ill do something similar with the top off container and a small ottoman.
