petkingdom619
Need a clean up crew and some ideas on fish. I don't want it to be very crowded, I'm going more towards coral but would like to have some fish also. Link to comment
petkingdom619
What would go well with a pygmy wrasse. I'm not getting anY clownfish Link to comment
Bingo1213
I have a striped Blenny that I like a lot. I have also really enjoyed my purple fire fish! There is always the classic shrimp and goby pair swell. As for a CUC I would go for some blue leg hermits, maybe one emerald crab, Narcissus snails, astrea snails, and a BLACK brittle starfish. I know lots of people have had bad experiences with brittle stars but I have kept a few over the years and have fallen in love with them. If any fish dies they are the first to eat it in my tank. A great feature with a small tank when you are away on vacation. I have only kept black brittle stars and I have never had a fish go missing. My current brittle star is over a foot across and is in with lots of small docile fish. You could also add a cleaner shrimp to your list. Link to comment
petkingdom619
How about a pygmy or possum wrasse and two firefish, maybe something else in there? Link to comment
petkingdom619
I'll just put a yellow tang in there with a trigger fish. Would that be Ok? Or an octopus Link to comment
BigRed10
How about a pygmy or possum wrasse and two firefish, maybe something else in there? I would stick to one fire fish unless you can get a bonded pair. I have a clown goby with my possum wrasse, and most gobies or blennies would work well with the 2 you've chosen. Flame hawks are pretty cool little fish, great personalities. Assuming your joking on the other post. Link to comment
RotorHead
I second the clown goby. I had a yellow one for quite a while and he had a great personality. I also have a Randall's goby and shrimp pair and seeing them in action is really neat. Link to comment
petkingdom619
I like the flame hawks but don't they eat pods ? Link to comment
BigRed10
All fish eat pods, they're one of the staples of the reef Eco-system, the hawks may eat small shrimp, but IME fish get lazy and quickly learn that the good will come find them . If you do go with a flame hawk you may want to avoid other rock perching type fish. With a wrasse though you'll also want to be careful about adding any slow moving pod reliant fish (dragonets, pipefish, etc) as the wrasse will easily out compete them, it still amazes me at how fast my possum wrasse can move when he wants to Link to comment
petkingdom619
OK. Yesi thought they ate pods like the dragonet. I do like the wrasse. I'll probably just end up with what the LFS has Link to comment
clownfitch
OK. Yesi thought they ate pods like the dragonet. I do like the wrasse. I'll probably just end up with what the LFS has It really is best to have a stocking plan before you go to the LFS. Most LFS' will also order the fish you would like to have. More often than not the impulse buys don't work out in the long run. Link to comment
petkingdom619
If I went pygmy wrasse , firefish, goby. Would that work or maybe blenny instead of goby Link to comment
petkingdom619
Can anyone give me a better way to mount this light? Link to comment

k4ndyk1ng
Get a dwarf angelfish my cherub is so cute and he is very interesting and small Link to comment
Bingo1213
Be careful about those dwarf angles. Although the cherub's don't usually go for coral, they do have a huge ego (kind of like small dogs). In my experience they tend to pester tank mates but I have also heard that is hit or miss. I guess it really depends on the individual fish! Link to comment
petkingdom619
I wouldn't put a dwarf in a 30. Seems to small. What about cardinal fish? Do I need to get 3 of them Link to comment
altiuscitius
Depends on the type of Cardinal. I see pajamas and bangaiis solitary in tanks all the time and they seem to do fine. The liveaquaria websites say most cardinals like to be in small groups though. I have 5 pajamas in my 250g cyclinder tank, as they are the type most likely to school, and they schooled together for about a day when first introduced, and for about an hour after each tank cleaning. Mostly they stay perfectly spaced equidistant from each other at all times. There is a pecking order, but no aggression. A simple charge that stops 3 inches from the other fish, and then everyone readjusts where they are floating to ensure they are as far as possible from all other cardinal fish. Link to comment
petkingdom619
I was also looking at chalk bass. Live aquarium says semi aggressive but in description says non aggressive. So who knows. Went to the LFS store and saw some nice looking dartfish Link to comment
Bingo1213
I have a single banggai in my 25 soon to be 40 and he seems happy! Link to comment
