billybatz9
Where is the cheapest place to buy acrylic? I want to make a diy intank media rack. I also would like to know the thickness I would need. Thanks Link to comment
Deleted User 8
We have Tap Plastics local to where I live, you might too. Make sure to get the cast not extruded acrylic. It is less hydrocsopic. If you can go into a store such as Tap, they often have a box of cut offs. You would be amazed at what you can find in there for cheap! They also often have large chunks of cast tubing that have scratches. Great for DIY skimmers. I would say 3/16" or so, 4mm. for the sides. You can use egg crate for the shelves. Buzz Link to comment
billybatz9
Do you guys think it will be worth the time, cost. And etc to make my own? Or should I just buy the real thing? Link to comment
aquakevem
You'd also have to consider the cost of acrylic to be cut to your exact dimensions by the shop(Usually an additional cost) or source a table saw and acrylic blade to cut it yourself, acrylic cement and applicator tools too. StevieT
Or should I just buy the real thing? Real thing Use coupon wetwater If you don't have acrylic, tools, materials it's much cheaper and faster to buy a proven design Link to comment
