Wjcastiglione
Hey guys, Newbie here. Trying to figure out a stock list for my tank. Here's what I'm thinking: -1 yellow tang (thoughts? I know they're frowned upon but I've seen many smaller tanks stock them) -1 mandarin goby -1 false percula clown fish -1 Picasso percula clown fish Am I ok mixing two species of clown fish? RC1313
I would say no on the angel, they are very capable of eating all your coral and more likely to do so in a smaller tank. Make sure you can take care of the mandarin, there is a great thread on here about them. The two clown fish will get along fine. Link to comment

You can safely mix Percula and Ocellaris clowns because they're smaller, less territorial, and very similar. Link to comment
jgaepi
As a newb still myself, I recommend two Clowns to start. Let them get adjusted and learn from them in regards to feedings, etc. Then add, but slowly still. It has been 10 weeks since my Clowns and I am now just considering adding a Yasha Goby and a Firefish. Link to comment

Yellow tang= no! too small for a fish that grows way too big. I would say that three fish would be the max for a tank this size. I only have a Maroon clown pair in my 28G NC. Link to comment

PiscesFish
You could try a wrasse instead of a mandarin. But, only a Lubbocks, Possum, Six-line and i feel like im forgetting one, will fit. You could also try a Chalk Bass. They're timid fish and very shy at first but after a week or 2 of hiding, they should be out. Though, just know which fish you want in your tank first instead of adding everything at a time. Link to comment

How about a royal gramma basslet? Link to comment
jestep
How about a royal gramma basslet? They'd be great in there. One of my favorite fish. Not aggressive (mine haven't been at least), very colorful, and great curious personality. Assessor basslets are great as well. Smaller than gramma's but totally peaceful and goofy fish that like to swim upside down and vertically all the time. Yellows are the best colored and are the cheapest and often captive bred which is a huge bonus IMO. Make sure the clowns are either both very small, or one is disproportionately larger than the other. 2 large clowns are likely to both be female and they wont get along in that size tank. reefernanoman
How about a royal gramma basslet? That is a very hardy fish. They sometimes swim upside down! The first time I saw mine do it, I thought it was dying, but it's normal behavior. They also have a huge mouth for their size. Link to comment
