ID of Hitchhiker Crab

Just curious if anyone can help ID this crab.

 

He is Brown/red with white tipped claws. The legs have white stripes on them. Claws are pretty long but not like squat lobster. They are not very large claws. I am going with a possible mithrax type crab.

It will be caught one of these days.

Probably what is called a "Black Mithrax Crab". It seems to be a mix of yes/no if they are reef safe.

I really am of the opinion no crabs are reef safe but now I need to catch him.

Yeah, some people have bad experiences with crabs. I will always have emerald crabs and hermits in my tank. The only crab I have ever had a problem with is a halloween hermit that liked acro flesh. I think it was underfed to be fair. GL catching it. Try a shot glass leaning up against a rock with some mysis shrimp in it.

I've had a bunch of different black/brown mithrax crabs that have been reef safe, but then again I never kept them with anything I cared much about (http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/317974-islandoftikis-7-gallon-micro-reefs-pest-crab-tank/). I'm sure the likelihood of the the crab causing damage to your corals is proportional to the cost of the coral.
