Recommend a 3-5g cube

Partially Submerged

I am going to set up a desktop reef at work. I have a 3g Picotope at home, which I like a lot, so I would like to take that one to the office and replace it with a minimally larger tank at home. Maybe something slightly more high-end. Can you guys recommend something in the 4 or 5g range? I prefer cubes, and I m open to both AIO and simple tanks. I am looking at the CAD Lights 4g right now and the Nuvo series, but there are so many options.

Just get a deep blue professional (12x12x12) 7g nano rimless tank. Fine craftsmanship, black silicone, and cheaper price. No need to spend $100 on a small 5g tank.

Check with your local fish store. I paid roughly $45+tax for the one I have.

or if you have to have it 4-5g. Here is an ebay listing for a 4.3g (10x10x10):

but I am sure you can get it for less at your local fish store.

FWIW:

I've had my 4G CadLights set up for a couple weeks. I love the starfire glass--and the stock light and pump work for what I want to keep in it. I use a simple media basket from an old Aqua Clear filter since it just happens to fit in the sump. Rock and sand displace it down to 3G water.

Thanks for all your input!

Tfragtal, is the acrylic work okay in your tank? I've read some stories about broken/loose backgrounds, but those may have been early ones. The 4g Mini is my favorite so far, especially at $90.

Went with a 4g CAD Lights Mini. From what I read, their QA can be spotty, but for less than $90, I decided that's a risk worth taking. Thanks again for your input.

My CAD Lights Pico arrived only a few days after placing my order, and everything looks good. I was expecting a white light, but it seems like they changed them to black. Fine with me. Here is a question, though, if any owners are reading this. The pump comes with a little screw-on nozzle, but I don't understand how I am supposed to use it. When I screw it on, the whole thing is too long to still fit into the filter chamber. Am I missing something here?

I just set up the same tank a few days ago. You can see pics in my build thread. You insert the outlet of the return pump through the bulkhead, and then you screw on the cap. Is that what you're doing? Mine fits fine. I can post a picture of mine if you want.

Mine came with a white light instead of black. Guess it's the luck of the draw. I'm not using mine, though, so if you really wanted white I'll sell you mine super cheap. It's better than putting it in the attic just because I can never stand to throw anything away.

God, I'm so stupid. I pushed the cap through the bulkhead from the filter side and then tried to attach the pump. :D Okay, I'll do what you described, thanks. I am using a Par30 for the tank, so I am not going to use my fixture either. Well, actually I will, but on a JBJ Picotope, which turns out to look really good with it. Your tank is gorgeous, by the way!

Thanks for the feedback on my tank

I've got a PAR30 on mine, too. I hope I can figure out something to use the Pico light on eventually...

You should start a build thread so we can follow along!
