Jaysharky
Hi, Just got the Dymax iq skimmer for my iq5 3g tank. It's a limewood skimmer. How should I tune it as it came with no detailed instructions? It's producing a very wet skim, very pale yellow/brown in colour. Should I adjust how much it is sitting in the water or should I adjust the amount of air going into it. Currently it is sitting as low as possible in the water and I adjusted the air supply just so that the White bubbles didn't overflow into the collection cup. Thanks for any help. Link to comment
Liamgray90
All skimmers seem to be a nightmare get the water level set bebetween min and max and just enough that the water comes just up the tube you Want it set just to spew over slightly too much and you'll get air bubbles And on top of this you have a air filter which I have nearly closed other wise it sounds like you're tank has a induction kit Link to comment

Egginis
As indicated, most skimmers need two weeks to break in. Keep in mind that changes in water level, increased feeding and nutrient build up can also affect the performance of the skimmer. If you have an automated top off device, this will certainly aid in keeping the water level balanced and the skimmer working more effectively. Even so, you most likely will need to make manual adjustments from time to time. good luck with the new skimmer. Link to comment
