Hi all.

I am new to the whole marine reef tank so i need some advice on turning my 7.5 us gallon freshwater tank to nano reef.

I got it this far: 25w heater, 5 kg of liverock, 3 kg of livesand and a water pump of 200 gph for the flow.

I am thinking of putting a small sump in the back of the tank (build one in extension) with filtration. Would a refugium be helpful as i would not use a protein skimmer, and is it even possible to have a refugium in this small tank?

And for the lightning i would use a diy led array and am planning on using one 10w rgb chip and 2 10w warm white chips. Are there some specific wavelenghts of light that should be used? Like blue of 455-460 or is blue as is simply enough?

This is looking good, a small refugium (less than 25% volume of dt) won't do much for nutrient control, but I love refugiums for the pods and cool bugs. As with lighting, I successfully grew mushrooms with a desk lamp so I'm sure that light will be fine, make sure to put a dimmer on it because that is a lot of led watts for a small tank. You have clearly done your research so well done sir and happy reefing!!!

Also welcome to nr!!!

Thank you.

Yes a dimmer will be put with a arduino controller couse i have one around somewhere along with those led chips.

Is the moonlight needed for the corals? And what collor is used for that? Cyan?

Easy, fill it full of salty water and throw all reason out the window. Oh, and along with the reason, you should include your wallet...

How about an AC 70 with Intank media basket and surface skimmer from Pico aquariums? That worked great for me when I had my 7.5G cube.

Well, i was thinking about building something similar in the back of the aquarium out of some more glass of about 5-7 liters with an owerflow and sticking a 200 gph pump in it for the return to tank as i am planing not to use a powerhead in the tank. Also i was planing to put a live rock and some live sand in it for better filtration. A sort of refugium. I am trying to keep as much equipment as i possibly can out of the main tank as it it already small enough. But i will consider your sugestion anyway, it is a easier and quicker way of doing it.
