You don't own a Mantis, The mantis owns you

That's absolutely correct, and my master "Mr Barlow" will arrive on Tuesday 10-21 to take his place as master of "Scary Mantis Mountain".

More to come. Follow along if you dare??

Rather than giving a long answer, why don't you just Google the name "Mr Barlow" and see what pops up..

HINT....Salems Lot.

Did you go to lfsto get the mantis or online?

I tried locally and even ordered one from a little reef shop in Tempe called "Club Reef" which is a little corals only shop. When it arrived they couldn't assure me it was the species i ordered and i dont think it was.

Anyway, i ordered a "purple Spot Mantis" from Blue Zoo online and it gets delivered Tuesday. They assured me it would be the correct species and i'm learning to ID them myself.

BTW, you asked me where i shop for stuff. I order online when able for the bigger stuff because of the lower prices but here is where i shop locally Near Scottsdale.

1. Aquarium Arts (near Baseline and Dobson in Mesa). Salt, sand, and all the little drygoods stuff. Very good selection of support stuff like food, testers water treatment etc.

2. Limited edition Corals (48st just so of University in Phx) Great selection of mostly Corals (very good 10-30$ frags)

3. Aqua Touch (32 st and Cactus Phx) best selection of fish and inverts

Aquarium arts is a pretty cool place but I don't like how they literally keep huge puffers in tiny little tanks... Like they have tangs in little maybe 2 gallon tanks...

Aqua touch is pretty awesome though, I went today and they have had a nasty algae outbreak, so I didn't get any corals and they said that it would take 4-6 weeks to get a mantis in.

If you haven't visited the Aquarius, I'd recommend it. They have a really cool selection of corals and its pretty much a coral only place. I'm pretty sure they smoke good in that store and they always have beer.. They really do have the best coral collection I've seen though and its pretty cheap. It's like $5-60+++ and all the good frags are usually in the $20 section, but I've got some pretty good stuff for $10. They always throw in freebies too. First time I went, the guy threw in some nice palys and zoas from the $20 section that were splitting onto the egg crate and threw in a nice frag of birdsnest to let me try some sps.. It's a really cool place.

He's Dead....He arrived DOA and stiff with a water spgr of 1.020 and Ammonia level of 1.0 When i opened the bag, i could smell death. I acclimated him as per Blue Zoos warranty instructions but he was still dead.

I called Blue Zoo and they said they would get back to me to see if i followed all their guidelines and maybe qualify for a store credit without a shipping refund. A store credit????? By now my blood is boiling. I just paid 89.00 for the shrimp and overnight shipping and they want to give me a store credit for a shrimp that arrived dead, stiff, and cold in water that had a lethal ammonia level and a spgr of 1.020. Seems like someone may have found a new way to clear out the sick and dying livestock. Oh well, i suppose i should give Blue Zoo a chance to make good on this and wait for them to get back to me with a final answer..In the meantime i'm discouraged and feel like dismantling the tank because i just cant pay for shipping like that anytime soon...

I was really looking forward to this build..AVIATOR300
