Finding Paulo Posted October 11, 2014 Share Posted October 11, 2014 hey guys ... so after 2+ years of runnning my tank i took everything apart because i wanted a super clean fresh start with new substrate and all.. Noticed that over the years of spilling water inside my stand a few cracks and some water damage.. Im about to order a new stand and orginally wanted to build a stand with 2x4 wood but then my sump wouldnt be able to go in or out... i know this stand lasted me this far but what do you guys think of these kind of stands... i dont understand how they hold so much weight... am i trippin or are these durable enough.?? its just 3 sides of 1 inch thick plywood i think.. is anyone a pro at how stands and weight distrubtion works? always thought u need some tough 2x4 Link to comment

I have a 65G Tank standing on a ADA like DIY Stand builded mainly of MDF Wood and some wooden Beams in the inside to stabilize everything ...I have to be honest: I'm pretty much amazed that the stand holds up and I was scared as #### the first time I filled my tank.Put the tank on your stand, fill it with freshwater and listen to your stand. If it starts cracking slightly get that water out as fast as possible.I've screwed and glued mine on all places where one plate gets fixed to another. For the humidity, I've put several layers of paint on the inside and outside of the stand with a clear coat as finish. My old tank has leaked several times and nothing went in the stand.
