AquaticEngineer
Decided to finally really give it a go at growing some of this stuff out. Its a Pink encrusting hydrocoral (Stylantheca spp). Gonna see how it does with daily spot feedings of Calanus zooplankton and ocean nutrition coral food and see if I can mark visible growth. Got urchins and snails to keep it algae free. JLynn
Cool! The nitpicker in me feels obliged to note that this isn't an SPS, but anyways, I will definitely be watching this. I am interested in hydrocorals as well, but almost no one keeps them and there is remarkably little information available about them on the web. Another hydrocoral you might consider trying is Stylaster californicus. Link to comment

BulkRate
Really neat! A question form the tropical side; back when I had a tuxedo urchin it'd strip the rock bare in the sections where it opted to have a meal... wouldn't the passage of yours possibly chew through & damage the hydrocoral as well? Tamberav
I have been broadcast feeding reef-roids and marine snow for the one you sent me. No idea if it is helping or not... from what I could find... they grow really slow? It's still pretty pink but I need to cover up some of my blue led's... too much blue seems to wash out the colors. Micro-Reefs Aquariums
One of the main reasons my Cold Water System at Reefapalooza 2012 was off the hook, my 6.2 system had that SPS in there and boy was it purple and my favorite piece! Once I get a system up and running for my own pleasure you can rest assure you will get my order for a ton of those pieces, Nuff said.... Link to comment
