150W + 2x24W T5HO Aqua Medic, is this too much for ADA 60P SPS tank?

I'm going to move to ADA 60P by the end of this month, and I'm considering a new light for that setup.

I'm currently running DIY full spectrum LED, coral color is okay, nothing exciting but at least everything is still alive and growing.

Aqua Medic fits the bill and I had good experience with the brand. However my concern is, it may puts too much light that will cause coral to bleach easily since the tank is only about 13" tall. I can imagine 4x24w T5HO would work nicely but if I want shimmer I will have to retro fit LED. I don't want to have to convince my wife why I need to be modifying the new light from day one.

What would you do in my position? I have gone through a few lights with my current setup already, so I kind want to pick something I wouldn't want to replace anytime soon. I'm also running a chiller so I get potential heat issue covered. :)

How good are your DIY skills? Do you have saws and router? Have you worked with acrylic, aluminum?

What is your budget?

If you run LED, you could sell the chiller and put that money toward an awesome DIY light. A LED light that has both shimmer(like MH) and diffused light(like T5).

Oh, to answer your question.Intensity of light is governed by the Inverse Square Law.Double the distance quarter the light, halve the distance quadruple the light. So, if the MH-T5 is too bright move it up, raise it.

that light isn't too much at all....im running a 250 watt radium over my 20 gallon....no chiller or fans...but its hangs pretty high above tank
