Mustang Boy
Ok I have sand that has been sitting in an empty tank for awhile, it definitely needs to be thoroughly cleaned before I put it in the BC8 I'm about to set up. So I was thinking the best way would be to put a hose in a 5g bucket and then bury the end of the hose with the sand and turn the hose on a little and let the water run through the sand and over the bucket for awhile. Only thing is should I just take the sand from there and stick it in my tank still wet with the freshwater or should I dry it out first, if dry it out what would be the best way since I want this tank up and running by tomorrow afternoon. joy13
I would wash it like I do my dry sand I get. Lean the bucket a little put the end of the hose in and swish the water around until it runs clear. Leaning the bucket is so that the water can drain as it is going in. I add a little prime to the bucket let it set a few minutes drain the sand and put it in the tank. Link to comment
