aventador22
Okay so having my 4 gallon setup for a few weeks Ive realized how bad evaporation on small tanks is, so before buying an ATO I tried something different. I took a watering bulb, a clip off a syphon, and the rubber grommet off a hookah to make a RO/DI reservoir that could sit on top of the tank. When water evaporates past the stem of the bulb water flows out until the tank is filled again. Simple but its been working! Let me know what you guys think, oh and it holds about three bottles of water in the bulb so its not great for a bigger tank but perfect for me Link to comment
ElmoC
Great job on that. Basically a water cooler for the fish to hang around and gossip at. One guy I work with suggested that for my tank, but is isn't large enough for that. Link to comment
Angel<3Nanos
Holy! May just have to try that! I have tons of those hookah grommets! Where did you buy the bulb? Link to comment
aventador22
Haha i actually picked it up from marshalls for $2, I still dont know what it is but it was absolutely perfect for what I wanted. Im thinking you could also just use a round bottom flask, should be the same thing Link to comment
ClaireRenee
That is awesome! Great idea... You really classed up the coke/hamster bottle ato. Good job Link to comment
BoxKing
Distilled Water = DI minus the RI Thats a nifty play on an ATO Link to comment
kimberbee
Can you get a pic from the side so we can see how it's attached to the tank? Link to comment
Nano sapiens
I like that! I've been using the same principle for over 6 years on my 12g, so definitely a proven concept Link to comment
aventador22
Thanks heres a pic of the side and how it looks without a flash overall, the clip just goes over the back and sits there Link to comment
