ABC's nano cube

Hello everyone,

I'm new to NR, and been keeping a saltwater tank for about a year.

About a month ago my DT got marine velvet ( I believe) all my fish were dead in about 36 hours. I placed all my inverts in a 12x12x12 cube and love how this tank looks, I also kept some live rock and my zoas.

I thought starting a thread would be neat to see how my tank progress over time and also get some help when needed.

A lot of the threads on NR seem like fun to follow.

When I figure how to attach a photo I will.

My current tank is a 7.5 gallon cube this will be a 20 gallon cube.

My goal is to mak a stand an plumb the tank to hide equipment. I may use the current tank for a sump or get a 10 gallon.

The new tank has four chambers in the back. The return pump is a Sicce 1.0.

I have a hydor slim skim skimmer that can fit in the first or third chamber. The second chamber is a in tank media basket.

Now I got to get a stand made or bought.

Hopefully will be ready to get wet this weekend.

Finally got the new build up and running, still got plenty work to do on it.

I still have to build a screen top,

And my clowns have been bugging the feather duster. I think I'm going to build a protector, for the feather duster out of the extra material for the screen top.

Looks clean and pretty. I like the blue back - did you use film?

I used Krylon Fusion, in a rattle can to paint the back. It's the first time I have painted the back of a tank, and I like the look. I also think it causes less stress on the livestock, IMO , because the back feels like a rock wall or something.

I wake up this morning, and the coral banded shrimp that I just added to my 19 gallon, got his legs caught under a rock and tore off all his legs on that side of his body. He can't swim walk I'm wondering if I should put him out of his misery before he dies in my tank.

Not too much has changed with my tank. But today I did a water change and added a Apex controller

Still have some work to clean it up and I need to add a wireless adapter. So far I love what it can do though.

After I got the Apex I realized my PH was too low, about 7.6. I switched to filtered ocean water about a month ago also I have noticed some Zoas not acting as well in the last month.

I'm thinking about trying Kalkwasser in my top of water. I have checked alkalinity and calcium and both are on the low side of good. Calcium about 400 API test kit

Alkalinity was 2 new/l according to seachem's test.

Any thoughts on using Kalkwasser in a nano reef??
