cju84
Hey all - noticed some red plumpish growths on part of my rock. Is this cyano bacteria? I understand this is bad. If this IS cyano, do I just keep my lights off for a few days and try to remove it manually? I did my second water change since the tank's inception (3 weeks running) this past weekend. Tested levels tonight: ph: 7.9-8.0 ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 20-40ppm salinity: 1.027 Thanks Link to comment
tibbsy07
Not cyano. Looks like a sponge or something to me. Link to comment
cju84
Thanks tibbsy. Would you guess that they are not harmful? Link to comment
D Z
Those just look like harmless sponges. Good filter feeders. I would leave them be. Link to comment

It pops up and then BAM it's everywhere in sheets of slimy, reddish-purple fury. Link to comment
