tdannhauser30
Ok so I just bought a used reef octopus bh 1000 for my nano cube 28. I know it's way oversized but it's a good skimmer that will fit on my tank. Anyway i just got it set up and am getting crazy amounts of micro bubbles. Will this still have a break in period even if its used before? And should I have the little feet on the intake and outtake? Right now I just left them as tubes because I am not worried about them sucking anything up. Please help! Link to comment
k4ndyk1ng
Wait for it to break in, if the bubbles don't stop use a sock of filter floss Link to comment
tdannhauser30
So there is still a break in period even if it is a used skimmer? And where would I put the sock or filter floss to prevent the bubbles? Link to comment
Chungy
I had the same problem with a used reef octopus for my sump. I took the entire thing apart and cleaned it thoroughly, reassembled it and no more micro bubbles blowing out, perhaps something was not tighten properly, not sure what it was but it solved the problem for me. tdannhauser30
Ughhhh just what I wanted to hear, the solution is to take it entirely apart haha. Well that sucks but hey if it gets rid of these bubbles I guess it's worth it. Link to comment

reefone
yes their is a break in period for used skimmers. give the skimmer a week to fully break in. if you take the skimmer apart and clean the crap out of it then it will need to break in again. Link to comment
