Biocube LED bars

Anybody fill in the extra slots on the biocube? I was thinking about adding two lunar blues and then one white. But not sure if it will make a HUGE difference in what I can keep. Looking for opinions.

The other option is to rip out the entire standard lighting and go with a new LED block or something - but that is an expensive option.

I'm just going to be keeping basic stuff at first - so i don't know if I need crazy light. But I figured if a couple of those bars would help a ton it would be worth it.

The LED bars that are designed for the Biocube are really just aesthetics and will not help with corals. For the biocubes you will need to completely replace the lights. There are several companies with retrofit kits for this. Steves leds is one of the most popular.

There are several corals that the standard lights will support. Forget most SPS but there are plenty of softies, LPS and polyps that you can get. With the steves led upgrade there not much you can't do. But as you mentioned they get costly.

I often wondered the same thing but just decided to have a LED retrofit done for my Biocube 14g.

Should end any concerns about over heating. A lot of people have had good luck with Steves.

I am going with Nano Box retrofit. Dave Fason is very active on this site.

Have also read good things about Rapid LED.

Thanks y'all - I'm not sure I'm quite ready to assemble too much. I'm lucky to be able to just turn it on/off without it breaking. I might get the lunar light add-on just to get some more blue and stick with some more basic corals for now.
