DodgerDave
Hi All I went to my LFS this afternoon and picked up a few frags. I wasn't planning on buying a mushroom, but I loved the color on it. Most mushrooms I see are "flat" colors of green or blue or red and so on. This one almost had a ricordea look to it as its blue with orange speckles on it. Anyone ID what type of mushroom I bought? Additional question, the second picture is the mushroom about 3 hours after placing into my tank. It's already shrinking! I placed it under the live rock structure and in a slightly shaded spot. I run a PAR38 24 K watt full spectrum light. Should I place the mushroom in a completely shaded area or is this just normal acclimation of the mushroom to a new tank? Sorry for the poor picture quality. Thanks! Picture of the mushroom in hour or so after placing in my tank A few hours later, the mushroom is shrinking.. Link to comment
JavaJacketOC
looks like a Rhodactis Link to comment
Nano sapiens
Yes, Rhodactis. They do tend to shrivel and look unhappy for a while when new to a tank. Partial shade should be fine for the first week and then each week thereafter try bring it a bit more out in the open. If it gets too much light (or too much flow) you'll see it really shrivel up and exude white mesenterial filaments. Link to comment
