Plumbing Help

I know very little about plumbing, my current tank isn't drilled and doesn't even have an HOB filter haha.

I'm currently getting an all-in-one tank made (like the nuvos and biocubes) and having the builder drill a 1/2" hole for the return. So I need to get a pump and do the little plumbing required to get that up and running.

Will I need a bulkhead on the hole, or is it some other thing for these?

Better yet, what's going on in this picture? :D

I need help lol. All the info online seems to be about plumbing a sump, and this should be similar (or a lot simpler), but I just have a feeling I'll be picking up all the wrong parts.

So you are having an AIO tank made similar to the picture above? The tank above has two overflows (on each side). The water passes through the media rack and enters the next chamber (the chamber on the right has a heater, but I suppose you could put a skimmer there). Finally, the water enters the return chamber (in the middle). The return pump is plumbed to a Y fitting so there are two return nozzles.

For an AIO tank, a bulkhead isn't necessary (as the connection doesn't have to be water tight). When you say that you are having it drilled, I assume that you mean to plumb the return pump (in the return chamber) to the display, and not for a sump.

Thanks for the response. Not the same layout, I'm gonna have 3 chambers. But I wanted more info particularly for the return pump and plumbing for it.

Yes, sorry thats what I meant by drilled haha. The false wall will be drilled so the return pump can be plumbed to display.

Im thinking:

Pump -> tubing -> (bulkhead or some other into the hole?) -> return nozzle

So if not a bulkhead, what would be used?

A bulkhead would work fine, but you don't need one. A hole for a threaded fitting should be adequate.

The barbed elbow would be connected to some vinyl tubing, and the MPT fitting would connect to a Loc-Line nozzle.
