I "think" my readings show: Ph: 8.0 Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 40ppm Can you guys let me know what that means? Obviously good ammonia and nitrite are 0, but I believe nitrate should be close to 0ppm as well. I read that a ph of 8.0 is also 'okay' (stability more important?) Quote Link to comment

Hey Ninja - I didn't use anything as everything I put in the tank was from a previously established tank at my LFS. I was debating putting a cocktail shrimp in there to 'induce' a cycle, but after talking to some people/researching, I saw that wasn't necessary. I probably should have though. Hopefully the majority of the CUC will be alive in another week or so and I'll retest at that point. Would you put an ammonia source in with a big CUC already there? Also checked out your tanks. Love your scape on the 5 gallon. Where in Chicago are you? Quote Link to comment
