Hey fellow reef lovers

So this is my first coral tank I've ever owned. I had a saltwater tank in the past when I was really young and I had no idea what I was doing(put a puffer into a 10 gallon tank, he shortly died :( ). Anyways, this is my Jbj picotope stocked with some fun new stuff. I started it a couple months ago and its really doing quite well.

Current fts:

Bad news- girlfriend decided that the goby wanted to be fed so she put betta flake food into the tank, and alot.... I siphoned out as much as I could, and when I woke up this morning, the tank was really cloudy. I did a 80% water change and it looks a lot better, all of my corals still look good. I hope everything doesn't die well I'm at class today.

Things should be alright maybe just tomorrow do another small water change and if you have test kits check the Paramus if everything is fine then... Well it's fine

Yeah everything if fine now.... I really want to take better pictures, but the bottom of the tank always comes out waaaaay to bright and I cant figure out how to make everything look good like other people photos. I'm using a galaxy s3.

Do you use an app with editing tools or just the phone camera? Vscocam works well enough for me and it's free

Yeah but you need an advanced degree in computer science to figure out their website and even get started.

vscocam is an app for my phone, so i snap the pics then edit on my phone and upload to the flickr app kinda ghetto but its better than just the iphone 5s camera

I started using this app called zoom pro, and it takes a little better pictures... I definitely am going to be investing into a nice camera soon.

I'm gonna be picking up some new stuff on Friday, I was looking for a Rock Flower, but my LFS didn't get them in :/ . Oh well, he says he is looking for a better connect, so I guess that's good. I really want to try more sps, but I'm afraid my goby will just kill it. He doesn't touch the birdsnest though, so maybe I'll make the tank a birds nest paradise hahaha.

Also, how do I tell where flow is strong and where it isn't? I want to put more stuff on my rocks, but I'm afraid it will be too much flow for my palys and zoas.

Got a cool new frogspawn today, $25

It was so much smaller in the store's frag tank and once I put it in my tank it exploded! Super cool to watch.

My clown goby has decided to host the frogspawn lol

Here's a new picture. When I try to take a full shot everything gets washed out by the light.. I need to find an android app to fix that.

I forgot to mention... The YCG won't eat anything except betta fish flakes... He won't even eat his mysis anymore. He just puts it in his mouth and spits it out. Maybe I should get some reef flakes.

They are notoriously hard to feed

Weird that he likes an aggressive ec oral I asked someone on here they thought I was crazy to think a ycg would do that

I got some new corals today, so I figured I'd post some pics. I got a 2 polyp no name zoa, some GSP, and a tan monticap with blue polyps... I hope the clown goby doesn't kill it, but he doesn't touch my birdsnest so I think I'm ok.

Heres the goby sitting on the monti

My favorite coral in the tank, I dont know if they are palys or zoas, but they sure are sweet. They close up when my goby sits on them.... and its his favorite spot..

Bad news and good news:

Bad news first: My poor christmas kitty charlie(betta fish) died for an unapparent reason. :( . He was the first fish I got that started off my addiction to fish tanks. I shed a tear for him and gave him a nice burial in my backyard. The poor fella went ill and was laying on his side at the bottom of the tank. I scooped him out and put him in a red solo cup, so he wouldn't kill the other fish in the tank. I watched him take his last painful and deep breaths.

Good news: I have decided to turn my mr aqua 7.5 gallon bowfront into an sps dominated tank. I want more sps, but I'm afraid my clown goby will kill them in the picotope. I ordered some reefcleaners dry rock and plan on starting a build thread very soon. I'm not to sure what kind of fish I will put in there. I'm thinking a yasha's and pistol shrimp but I'm not too sure. I can't wait on getting some acro's, but it will take time. :o

So, I went to this coral store and got this bad boy for $12. I asked the guy what it was, "I have no clue".

Input would be wonderful
