So I just picked up a jar/bag of Chemi-Pure Blue.

Instead of opting for Purigen and CPE for my Fluval Spec V, I decided to go with the 11 oz. version of CPB. I just removed the middle rack in my wonderful inTank media basket and it fits perfectly! I'm still running filter floss in the top chamber, naturally.

I'm excited to see how it performs. I just did a 50% WC yesterday, so I'm hoping to see a large decrease in my nitrate levels, since I've been lazy with my WC schedule :P

Anyone else try this stuff? I think my water is wetter already...

I'd like to see a large decrease in your nitrate levels, too, but I don't think you're gonna be seeing much of that just because of this product, unless Boyd has released actual data about it (they haven't).

I'd also LOVE to read data on how CPB prevents ion antagonism (but they probably don't have any to share). Yay buzzwords!

I haven't changed my filter media EVER (besides floss) since I started my tank. I don't think it will work any better or worse than CPE/Purigen. My LFS had no Purigen left in stock, in any size capacity. I didn't want to order media online and wait any longer. I've neglected my tank long enough.

I meant that with water changes and new media, I hope to see my nitrates drop. I'm not expecting a miracle product that reduces frequency of WC's.

You know Purigen is regenerable, right? That one fact slaps the entire Chemipure line silly lol

Media will be less about getting nitrate to drop and more just removing some types of organics. Think of their resins like activated carbon. Purigen behaves in a similar manner, though it's not 100% overlap with carbon (and neither are Chemipure products).

Yes, thank you I know about regenerating Purigen. After almost six months of not even rinsing it off, I think my $10 on the 100mL was well spent, and I didn't feel remorse, disposing of it!

Do you think I should add another dimension in my sump to cover all the filtration bases? I was thinking about putting a new bag of Purigen in there as well, but I think that would be overkill...
